About Me

Hey there intrepid web-surfer, welcome to my blog! I’m Emily, a self-confessed feminist, book-addict and wannabe treehugger, who happens to have studied BA English at Southampton university. (Why ‘wannabe’ treehugger? Well, whilst I do try to do my bit for the environment, I don’t think I’m quite up there with the best of them yet. I’m working on it though.)

I am currently looking to embrace the whole ‘world is my oyster’ shebang, which should be fun.

Here’s to hoping that this blog will keep me sane throughout the process and maybe even provide some entertainment for readers like you, passing by on the inter-web.

Chilling with a tree in Southampton.

Follow the links on the Treasure Map to your right to find stuff from the the best books to read and the ones to steer clear of, to all kinds of thoughts and ponderings. You can even have a nosy peep into whatever I’m up to by clicking Miscellaneous Me, if that’s more your cup of tea.

  1. Hi Emily, Thanks so much for following ‘From Ethiopia, with love’ we really appreciate it. I loved your book review – books are one of the big things we miss now we’re living in Addis – so I’ll hunt down that particular book in e-book form. Thanks so much for introducing us to this author. Salli

    • Hi Salli, thank you so much! I’m so glad that the review interested you enough to go and buy the book.

I am in the middle of writing a post at the minute about the Liebster Award. I am nominating you for it! I was going to comment on one of your posts to let you know (and I still will), but it makes sense to say now. I will fill you in when I comment, but its a sort of “chain post” award, to get smaller blogs names out there and bring bloggers together. I hope you enjoy The Screaming Staircase as much as I did. Emily

  2. Hello Emily…

Here’s a little message from Türkiye to say “thank you”. I appreciate your ‘follow’, knowing how many interesting and entertaining blogs there are out there.

Blogging since June 2013, my little corner of the world tries to offer an eclectic smattering of posts, from basic amateur photography, to sharing my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on our fruit farm in southern Turkey. I also throw in a few of my observations on life and lighter-hearted stuff for good measure.

You are more than welcome to have a look around, stay a while and have a trawl through my small collection. There are plenty of drop-down categories within the menu bar to help in said digging process. Of course, if you have any comments, suggestions or concerns, feel free to let me know – I’m not easily offended 🙂

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…
